Sulaymaniyah Construction Staircase Under Overcast Sky

Rust-stained metal rungs form a temporary staircase climbing the exposed concrete shell of a building in Sulaymaniyah. The structure leans against a scaffolded facade, creating sharp converging lines that draw toward a distant vanishing point. Heavy overcast clouds fill the upper frame, diffusing the clear dry mountain light into a soft, even gray wash. Early summer heat sits stagnant in the air, visible in the dust coating the rough concrete surfaces and the weathered texture of the steel beams. The open sky above reveals the building's unfinished upper floors, framing the industrial climb against a backdrop of muted white and slate. One shadow falls across the bottom step, at the base of the heavy steel in the gritty reality of the construction site.
