Temporary Staircase Under Autumn Clouds in New Mexico

Wet steel grating and red-orange safety tape define a temporary staircase ascending along a scaffolded building shell. The structure stands exposed to a sky filled with low-hanging gray clouds, casting flat, diffuse light across the wet metal surfaces. Dried sage green leaves and fallen autumn debris scatter on the steps and the concrete floor below. The scaffold poles create strong vertical lines that guide the eye upward toward the open roof frame. Rain has left the metal slick, reflecting the dull sky, while the rough texture of the unfinished concrete walls contrasts with the smooth, industrial steps. A wet puddle at the base mirrors the cloud cover above.
