Sulawesi Prau Boat at Dawn

Early morning light skims the horizon, catching the rim of a wooden prau as it cuts through dark, churning waves. The hull sits low in the water, its aged timber grain visible where the shadow lifts. One outrigger stabilizes the vessel against the swell. Dust hangs low over the wet sand in the foreground, catching the first rays of sun. The boat dominates the left third of the frame, moving right with force. Ripples spread from the bow, breaking the stillness of the water. A splash of white foam marks the path where the hull displaces the sea. The wood shows signs of salt and wear.
