Predawn Drawbridge Over Moat in Çorum Monsoon

Steel girders of the drawbridge rise from the moat, their surfaces slick with rain under the amber glow of sodium-vapor lamps. The predawn darkness pools around the massive concrete pier, while water churns below, reflecting the fractured orange light. Monsoon clouds hang low, barely visible against the deep blue-black sky, suggesting a storm that has just passed. The steel structure stands heavy and austere, its rivets and joints sharp against the gloom. Water droplets rest on the lower beams, catching the artificial light in fleeting sparks. A shadow from the bridge deck falls across the wet concrete edge, defining the boundary between the dark water and the solid infrastructure.
