Steam Rising from Butcher Door Under Train

Cold moonlight washes over a heavy steel delivery door set into a brick wall beneath the rusted iron girders of an elevated railway. Thick white steam billows from the gap where the door meets the frame, curling upward into the predawn darkness. The heat creates a visible wavering distortion across the wet asphalt pavement below. Bare tree branches cast skeletal shadows against the darkened tracks overhead. Faint orange glow from a distant streetlamp reflects off the damp ground near the door threshold. A discarded cardboard box sits abandoned beside the entrance, its edges frayed by the damp cold air. The texture of the brickwork is rough and stained with soot from passing trains.
