The heavy iron doors of a Vancouver steam locomotive shed stand open against the predawn darkness, revealing the massive silhouette of a heritage steam engine resting on the tracks inside. Condensation rests on the cold metal surfaces, catching the faint ambient glow from the station's overhead lights. A thin layer of dust coats the upper walls and beams, evidence of the long hours spent in this industrial space. Outside, the wet cobblestones reflect the dim yellow streetlamps, creating a slick, dark mirror on the ground.
