Starry Sky Through Shipwreck Ribs at Naha Inlet in beside a tidal inlet near Naha

Starry Sky Through Shipwreck Ribs at Naha Inlet

by Judith Griffin

Twilight blue fills the frame as the curved, rusted ribs of a decaying shipwreck rise from the shallow tidal waters near Naha. Above the skeletal iron arches, a dense field of stars pierces the darkening sky, their points of light reflected in the calm, glassy surface of the inlet. The early summer evening air has cleared the storm clouds, leaving the horizon sharp and the water still. Dark silhouettes of the metal structure contrast against the pale, star-filled expanse, while the wet, corroded surfaces of the hull catch faint glimmers of the celestial light. One star aligns perfectly between two rusted beams, marking the boundary between the submerged wreckage and the open night.
