Waning Moon Over Sleeping Volcano Taiwan in from a moonlit breakwater in Taiwan

Waning Moon Over Sleeping Volcano Taiwan

by Titus Washington

Silvery winter light bathes a dark volcanic slope beneath a waning gibbous moon hanging in a star-filled sky. The breakwater in the foreground offers a smooth, dark surface where the moon's reflection creates a perfect vertical mirror image against the sleeping mountain. Cold dry air hangs still, sharpening the contrast between the pale lunar disc and the deep charcoal of the crater rim. Early autumn leaves rest on the rocky outcrops in muted greens and browns. The water remains glassy, showing the celestial glow without a ripple. A jagged rock edge in the lower right corner breaks the symmetry, at the base of the mirrored composition in the tangible texture of the shore.
