Silhouetted Karst Towers in Blue Hour Mist

by Carole Spencer

Steel-blue ambient light washes the sky above jagged limestone spires rising from a flat, mist-laden plain. The karst towers stand as dark, solid silhouettes against the fading glow of the post-sunset horizon. Low-hanging clouds rest on the base of the formations, obscuring the ground and showing depth where the earth meets the sky. The dry season leaves the rock surfaces appearing rough and textured, with sharp edges defined by the cool, uniform lighting. No vegetation breaks the stark contrast between the stone and the soft, gray atmosphere. A faint, pale band of residual light stretches horizontally across the lower sky, separating the dark rock from the deep blue above.
