Sea Darkened Driftwood Rings on Turquoise Paint

Early morning window light traces the microscopic topography of a cross-sectioned driftwood ring. The wood, darkened by prolonged immersion in Caribbean seawater, displays concentric growth lines that vary from charcoal gray to deep amber. This organic disc rests against a wall coated in weathered turquoise paint, where flakes of pigment reveal layers of older white and gray underneath. The dry season air leaves the surfaces dust-free, highlighting the rough, fibrous texture of the wood against the crumbling plaster. Sunlight falls sharply across the grain, casting tiny shadows within the wood's pores and showing the contrast between the organic curve and the rigid, peeling wall surface.
