Rope Bridge Over Jungle Gorge Near Rio
by Michael Gill
Morning light reflects softly off a hidden waterway below, illuminating a weathered rope bridge spanning a deep jungle gorge near Rio de Janeiro. Thick hemp cables stretch across the void, their fibers frayed and gray from years of exposure. Moss rests on the wooden planks of the walkway, creating patches of vibrant green against the dark timber. A light fog hangs low over the gorge, softening the distant tree line while the foreground remains sharp. The bridge sways slightly under its own weight, suspended by rough-hewn wooden posts driven into the rocky cliffside. Shadows fall across the cables, showing the texture of the aged rope and the resilience of the structure against the humid, dry-season air. One rusted metal ring at the bridge's edge catches the reflected light.
