Warm sunlight strikes the brass sheave, highlighting the frayed hemp rope that dangles loosely beside it. The intense orange light casts long, sharp shadows across the textured masonry behind the mechanism. Dust motes dance in the beam, settling on the grooved wheel and the frayed end of the line.
