Rice Marker Flags in Dawn Haze Near Ermita Manila

Vibrant red and yellow plastic flags flutter against a backdrop of vineyard trellis wires stretching across the frame. Low sunlight breaks through the horizon haze, illuminating a thick suspension of chaff and dust that drifts horizontally through the air. The wet season air hangs heavy, visible as a shimmering layer of moisture on the green leaves of the trellis. In the foreground, the plastic ribbons twist in the monsoon wind, their colors stark against the pale blue-grey morning sky. Wooden posts anchor the vines, while the distant city skyline of Ermita fades into the mist. One piece of dried stalk rests on a wet wire, its brown texture against the slick green metal. The flags continue to ripple, marking the fields as the sun climbs higher.
