Bicycle Mattress Load at Foggy Harbor Sunset
by Cruz Mueller
Rain slicks the cobblestones near the harbor mouth as a bicycle, heavily laden with stacked mattresses, stands beside the water. The scene is illuminated by the warm, low glow of firelight reflecting off wet surfaces, against the cool gray fog rising from the harbor. The turn of seasons is evident in the damp, heavy clothing of the unseen rider and the muted colors of the surrounding landscape. The mattresses, worn and stained, are secured with rope against the wind and rain. The fog obscures the distant horizon, leaving only the silhouette of the harbor structures visible. The wet stones glisten under the firelight, highlighting the texture of the rain-soaked fabric. The bicycle's handlebars are tilted slightly, resting against the weight of the load. one drop of water rolls down the side of a mattress, falling onto the pavement.
