Purple Pitcher Plants in Winter Rain on Beach

Dozens of tall purple pitcher plants rise from the damp turf along a beach near Duhok, their tubular forms standing rigid against a steady winter rain. Late afternoon light cuts through the overcast sky, casting hard-edged shadows that stretch across the wet ground. Raindrops bead on the waxy surfaces of the pitchers, sliding down the deep violet walls into the trapped water at their bases. The soil appears saturated and dark, against the vibrant plant colors. In the distance, the blurred horizon of the beach meets a gray sky. Each plant maintains a disciplined, upright posture despite the weather. one drop of water rests on the rim of a foreground pitcher, catching the dim light before falling.
