Printmaker Inking Cherry Plate at Twilight Shrine

Amber sodium-vapor light floods a shrine courtyard near Moradabad, washing wet wood and paper lanterns in a warm, heavy glow. A printmaker stands at a low wooden block, rolling black ink across the carved surface of a cherry plate. Raindrops rest on the varnished wood and the wet fabric of hanging lanterns, their edges soft in the drizzle.
