Broad skylight floods a prayer hall near Tianjin, illuminating a traditional scroll laid across a low wooden table. A painter in a dark midsummer robe holds a black brush, their hand steady over wet ink that glistens on the white paper. The room extends deep into shadow, revealing rows of carved pillars and hanging lanterns that fade into the distance.
