Overgrown Greenhouse Ruin in Korean Village Olive Press

by Alana Barton

Bright late-afternoon sunlight floods the interior of a derelict structure, illuminating rows of crops beneath a collapsed roof. Thick fig vines snake across broken wooden beams, their broad green leaves catching the harsh midsummer light. Dense patches of stinging nettles rise from the cracked earth floor, obscuring the original layout. The white walls of the former olive press show weathering and peeling paint where the roof has failed. Deep, quiet shadows pool along the base of the walls, against the intense brightness in the center. Rusty metal supports lie twisted on the ground, partially buried under the encroaching vegetation. The overhead perspective reveals the chaotic geometry of the ruin as nature reclaims the agricultural space.
