Orangutan in Reed Bed Near Benin City

Golden afternoon light reflects off the surface of a nearby water body, illuminating the dense, dry reeds that line the edge of a wetland near Benin City. An orangutan sits high in the canopy of a solitary tree, its reddish-brown fur glowing against the deep green leaves. The sky above is a flawless, pale blue, stretching across a wide panoramic horizon without a single cloud. The animal's posture is rigid and alert, muscles tense beneath the thick coat as it scans the reed bed below. Sunlight catches the rough texture of the bark and the delicate, brittle tips of the reeds swaying in a faint breeze. A sharp shadow falls across the water's surface, marking the boundary between the stillness of the tree and the moving reflection of the reeds.
