Olive Presser Works Stone Mill in Duékoué

Crisp high-altitude light falls through heavy overcast monsoon skies, casting a soft, diffused glow over the stone mill in Duékoué. A worker in a worn shirt pushes a large cylindrical stone roller across a bed of olives, their muscles tense against the friction. The rough, gray texture of the mill contrasts with the smooth, dark skin of the fruit scattered in the trough. Dust motes hang suspended in the air, illuminated by the pale afternoon sun breaking through the clouds. The worker's hands grip the wooden handles firmly, guiding the heavy stone in a slow, rhythmic circle. Sweat beads on the worker's forehead, visible against the humid atmosphere. at the edge is the small pool of green oil beginning to collect at the edge of the stone's path.
