Ohio Arroyo After Flash Flood Under Winter Starlight

Pale starlight spills across a muddy Ohio arroyo carved by a recent flash flood. The channel walls reveal layers of wet, dark clay and scattered debris, while shallow pools reflect the faint glow of the night sky. Fine snowflakes drift downward, settling on the rough, eroded banks and the slick, dark mud below. Bare, leafless shrubs stand along the ridges, their thin branches dusted with white. The ground appears uneven and churned, with small ripples of water still moving slowly in the lowest depressions. The horizon fades into a soft, grayish darkness, punctuated only by the distant, steady shine of stars above the snow-laden air.
