Nautilus Shell Cross Section in Winter Light

Silvery winter light penetrates the exceptionally clear water near Essaouira, illuminating a cross-section of a nautilus shell. The spiral chambers reveal smooth, pearlescent surfaces in shades of cream and pale gold, against the deep blue transparency of the surrounding ocean. Slow-moving surface ripples distort the light above, casting shifting patterns across the shell's interior. The shallow depth of field blurs the background into a soft wash of indigo, keeping focus on the geometric precision of the fossilized structure. Fine sediment particles float suspended in the water, catching the faint predawn glow as they drift past the shell's ridged edge. One ray of light reflects off the wet, glossy rim, highlighting the organic curvature against the dark marine void.
