Mushroom Umbrellas on Leather Seat Cotonou

Warm candlelight spills across a worn leather armchair in a Cotonou room, illuminating a linen duvet piled high on the seat. Dry season dust motes float in vertical shafts of golden light that cut through the dim interior. Rising from the floor beside the chair, giant mushrooms with caps the size of umbrellas cluster among ordinary household objects. Their gills catch the flickering glow, casting long, soft shadows that stretch across the dusty floorboards. The leather shows deep creases and scuffs, against the smooth, waxy texture of the fungal caps. One shadow from a mushroom cap falls sharply against the linen fabric, anchoring the impossible growth to the tangible room.
