Moth Eye Pollen Dusting on Wind-Scoured Ridge

Reflected water light glints across the hexagonal facets of a moth's compound eye, revealing microscopic pollen grains clinging to the dark, glossy surface. The insect rests on dry, wind-swept earth near a Westlands ridge, where cool season air has left the ground crisp and pale. Each ommatidium acts as a tiny mirror, catching the soft, fading glow of the early evening sky. The texture of the eye is smooth yet segmented, against the rough, dusty soil beneath. Fine hairs fringe the edge of the head, standing rigid against the clear, cloudless backdrop. One grain of golden pollen sits precariously on the rim of a facet, suspended in the stillness.
