Silt Fence Staple Bucket on Wet Ground in along a scaffolded facade near Yaounde

Silt Fence Staple Bucket on Wet Ground

by Joshua Whitfield

Damp aggregate scatters across the foreground, darkening the earth where water has pooled. A metal bucket filled with galvanized staples sits heavy on the mud, its surface dull and pitted by recent rain. Behind it, the vertical lines of scaffolding rise against a thick mist that softens the distant facade. The light is flat and diffuse, stripping shadows and leaving the scene in cool grays and muddy browns. No gloss marries the rough texture of the wet stones or the rusted edges of the construction materials. The low angle emphasizes the weight of the bucket against the sprawling, wet ground. One staple lies loose in the mud near the bucket's rim.
