Moonlit Stepwell Junagadh Night Water in under the clearest stretch of sky near Junagadh

Moonlit Stepwell Junagadh Night Water

by Clinton Andrade

Deep stone steps descend from the edge into a black pool, their surfaces slick with monsoon moisture and ancient wear. A sharp beam of artificial light cuts through the deepest night, illuminating the rough texture of the weathered masonry while leaving the lower levels in absolute shadow. The water remains perfectly still, mirroring the cut of the light against the dark stone. Above, the sky holds no clouds, only the faint glow of the moon hanging over the ancient structure near Junagadh. The low angle emphasizes the vertical drop, where wet stone meets the dark liquid, and the edge of the illuminated beam creates a stark line against the surrounding gloom.
