Moonlight Dam Spillway Shadow Flyover in along a dam spillway in United States

Moonlight Dam Spillway Shadow Flyover

by Kimberly McKay

Black sky stretches endlessly above a concrete dam spillway, its surface etched with sharp, rhythmic shadows from a passing flyover. The underside of the bridge displays alternating bands of light and dark, cast by hard, airless sunlight that leaves no soft edges. Steel cables hang taut against the void, their metallic sheen reflecting the stark glare without atmosphere to diffuse it. Early spring greenery rests on the distant concrete banks, appearing dry and brittle under the intense illumination. Water in the spillway channel moves with engineered clarity, its surface fractured into jagged highlights. The low angle emphasizes the massive scale of the structure against the infinite darkness, at the base of the impossible lunar setting in precise architectural detail. One cable anchor bolt glints with cold precision at the base of the wall.
