Bridge Cradle Moon New Mexico River in beneath a bridge span in New Mexico

Bridge Cradle Moon New Mexico River

by Diego Dorsey

Green river water flows beneath a steel bridge span while a maintenance cradle hangs suspended in the air. The ground below holds pools of white fog, but the sky above is a solid, starless black. Harsh, directional sunlight strikes the wet metal surfaces, creating sharp, high-contrast highlights without atmospheric diffusion. Late autumn leaves rest on the distant banks, their colors muted against the stark lunar horizon. The cradle's cables stretch taut against the void, and the water reflects the rigid geometry of the steel beams. One droplet of condensation hangs from the edge of the metal railing, defying the dry, airless environment.
