Misty Coastal Heath Above Lava Ridge in Late Afternoon

Thick gray mist blankets the undulating coastal heath, softening the edges of low shrubs and tufts of early spring grass. Below, a dark, jagged lava ridge rises in stark contrast, its rough basalt surface absorbing the muted, overcast light. The perspective looks straight down from a height, revealing the textured tapestry of green and brown vegetation creeping over the volcanic stone. Shadows are gentle and diffuse, lacking sharp definition due to the heavy cloud cover. Patches of fresh green break through the dormant brown earth, indicating the season's transition. The mist rests on the crevices of the rock, hiding the base of the ridge and blending the ground into a seamless, quiet expanse of stone and plant life.
