Mirrored Prayer Candles in Catania Shrine
Late afternoon light enters from a north window, falling across a corridor lined with prayer wheels in Catania. Inside a stone shrine, a dense cluster of mirrored candles reflects the soft glow into dozens of sharp points of amber and gold. Rough-hewn limestone walls flank the arrangement, their gray textures resting against the polished metallic sheen of the candle holders. Shadows stretch long and cool across the floor tiles, revealing the depth of the narrow passage. Each reflection bounces off the curved metal of adjacent wheels, creating a rhythmic pattern of light along the wall. A faint, cool blue tint from the window glass touches the upper edges of the stone arch, at the base of the warm candlelight. At the edge, an elongated reflection of a flame slides down the vertical curve of a brass wheel.
