Lighthouse Lantern Room in Omdurman Shrine Evening
by Eli Miranda
Deep indigo ambient light fills the interior of a shrine near Omdurman, where a lighthouse lantern room stands as the central focal point. A complex Fresnel lens, constructed of prismatic glass segments, dominates the space, its crystal facets catching the fading twilight. Thick beams of white light project outward, cutting through the heavy overcast gloom that presses against the shrine's walls. The structure rests on a stone base, surrounded by rows of smaller, dimly glowing lanterns that line the perimeter. The contrast between the intense white beams and the surrounding dark blue shadows creates a bold visual rhythm. Dust particles hang suspended in the light paths, visible against the deep, saturated tones of the evening sky filtering through the high windows. The final beam illuminates a rough plaster wall corner, revealing the texture of aged lime.
