Industrial Cooling Tower Plume in Mauritius Rain
by Rowan Morin
Thick white steam rises from a massive concrete cooling tower, merging seamlessly into a heavy, low-hanging grey cloud layer that dominates the sky. The structure stands against a backdrop of active industrial worksites, where metal scaffolding and machinery hint at ongoing operations. Dappled sunlight falls through the broad, wet leaves of nearby tropical trees, casting shifting patches of bright light and deep shadow across the wet concrete surfaces. The rainy season air hangs heavy, turning the ground into a reflective sheet of water that mirrors the mechanical severity of the tower. Dark green foliage frames the left side of the view, against the pale, dissolving vapor that drifts upward and outward, losing its definition against the overcast horizon. A sharp edge of a rusted pipe catches a glint of light near the base.
