Indigo Twilight Alluvial Fan Canyon Silhouette
by Amber Choi
Deep indigo twilight blankets the layered foothills near Doha, casting the spreading alluvial fan into a stark, dark silhouette against the fading sky. The fan's sedimentary layers fan out in rough, jagged ridges, their textures defined only by the sharp contrast with the lighter horizon. Above, a perfectly clear sky transitions from a faint, dusty peach near the horizon to a profound, velvety blue overhead. The low angle emphasizes the massive scale of the geological formation, making the dry, wind-carved slopes appear to rise endlessly from the valley floor. No vegetation breaks the monotony of the stone and sand, highlighting the stark solitude of the arid landscape as the last light retreats. The final shadow of the ridge line cuts a clean, black edge against the cooling air.
