Ice Storm Glazes Bare Mailboxes Under Noon

A row of metal mailboxes stands rigid against a pale blue sky, their surfaces encased in a thick, translucent layer of ice. The flat glare of noon reflects sharply off the frozen shells, turning the dull gray steel into mirrored pillars of white and silver. Above, fast-moving cloud bands streak horizontally across the frame, suggesting a sudden shift in weather during a brief arctic summer. The ground below is a patchwork of wet pavement and melting frost, indicating recent rain followed immediately by freezing temperatures. Each mailbox handle is encrusted with jagged ice crystals, and the shadows cast by the posts are short and sharp, defining the cold, electric stillness of the moment.
