Hummingbird Feeding in Greek Winter Rain

Steady rain falls in sharp, silver streaks across a rugged Greek mountainside during the dead of winter. A hummingbird hovers in mid-air, its wings a blurred silver fan against the gray sky. It feeds from a vibrant red flower growing from a stone wall, its beak inserted deep into the bloom. Water droplets rest on the flower's petals and the bird's dark feathers, glistening under the flat, overcast light. The background reveals dry, scrubby vegetation and pale limestone rocks typical of the region. The bird's rapid motion contrasts with the stillness of the stone wall beside it. one drop of water slides down the edge of a green leaf near the bottom right corner.
