Hibiscus Hedge Along Tropical Wall in Brazil in in Brazil

Hibiscus Hedge Along Tropical Wall in Brazil

by Rebecca Porter

Deep crimson hibiscus blooms line a weathered lime-green stucco wall, their waxy petals glistening with residual rain droplets. The dry season air leaves the foliage crisp against the rough, textured surface of the masonry. Soft late-afternoon light falls through a perfectly clear sky, casting long, gentle shadows that stretch across the wet concrete courtyard floor. A narrow paved path runs parallel to the hedge, its edges defined by the converging lines of the wall and the dense row of flowers. The vibrant reds of the blossoms contrast sharply with the muted green of the leaves and the pale, sun-bleached tone of the wall. One dewdrop rests on the tip of a serrated leaf near the bottom right corner.
