Gorilla Family Foraging in Queensland Bamboo Ridge
by Lena Herman
Orange low-angle light spills across a wind-scoured ridge, illuminating the rough fur of a gorilla family moving through a dense bamboo thicket. The copper-toned glow highlights the sharp, vertical stalks of bamboo that lean slightly under the force of the breeze. Dark, wet leaves glisten with recent rain, contrasting against the dry, reddish-brown earth of the ridge. Three gorillas are visible from behind, their broad backs and powerful limbs navigating the thick vegetation. Above the canopy, a perfectly clear sky transitions from deep blue to the warm orange of the approaching dusk. The wind bends the tall grasses at the ridge edge, showing raw movement across the landscape. at the edge is one drop of water clinging to the tip of a bent bamboo shoot, reflecting the fading sky.
