Golden Hour Flamingo on Wind Scoured Ridge

Rich amber light floods a wind-scoured ridge near Colombo, illuminating a solitary flamingo standing on one leg. The bird's pink plumage glows against the damp, grey-brown earth of the rainy season. Droplets rest on the short grass blades, reflecting the low sun, while the bird's long, curved neck holds a rigid, patient curve. Behind the sharp focus on the flamingo, the background dissolves into soft, blurred greens and browns, suggesting distant vegetation swept by recent winds. The bird's black-tipped wings fold tightly against its body, and its long, thin legs anchor it firmly into the uneven ground. One droplet slides from the tip of its beak onto the wet soil below.
