Glowing sprites over storm in Saskatchewan fog
by Wilma Witt
Midday light fractures through the canopy of trembling aspen leaves, casting dappled patterns across a field of tall, wind-bent grass in Saskatchewan. A heavy marine fog rolls low over the prairie, softening the horizon where a distant thunderstorm gathers dark gray cumulus clouds. Above the storm front, tiny, bioluminescent sprites float in a chaotic cluster, their faint blue and green glow visible against the heavy sky. The wind whips the fog into swirling streaks, obscuring parts of the landscape while highlighting the restless energy of the scene. In the foreground, dew rests on the bent tips of the grass blades, and the edges of the leaves shimmer with a wet sheen. The dark storm clouds contrast sharply with the pale, misty light filtering through the trees.
