Boreal Taiga Forest After Rain Near Asaba

by Rick Conley

Green moss carpets the dark, damp earth beneath towering conifers that stretch endlessly toward a pale sky. Heavy rain has just passed, leaving water droplets clinging to every needle and leaf. Sunlight breaks through the retreating clouds, illuminating the wet bark and creating sharp reflections on the forest floor. Low-angle perspective emphasizes the height of the trees, making them appear as pillars supporting the heavens. The air is still, and the ground glistens with recent storm runoff. Patches of bright green ferns push through the decaying litter near the base of the trunks. The horizon dissolves into a soft haze where the forest meets the clearing sky.
