Glazed Pottery Rows in Turbine Hall Kiln Opening
Rows of glazed ceramic vessels line the interior of a massive kiln, their surfaces reflecting a cool, pre-dawn light that skims across the room from the left. The industrial turbine hall near Bandung stands in stillness, its high steel ceiling looming above the firing equipment. A Dutch angle tilt tilts the horizon, showing the geometric repetition of the pottery shelves. The air carries a visible haze of heat rising from the kiln mouth, distorting the background slightly. Outside the high windows, a light drizzle blurs the wet concrete floor, against the dry, matte textures of the unglazed ware. The glazes shimmer in muted earth tones—terracotta, slate blue, and charcoal—catching the faint sidelight as the sun remains hidden below the horizon. One crack in the kiln brickwork reveals a glowing orange ember deep within the structure.
