Glass Sun Dog Over Volcanic Coast in beneath fast-moving cloud bands near Almaty

Glass Sun Dog Over Volcanic Coast

by Kelly Murillo

Honeyed evening light spills across a jagged volcanic coastline where dark basalt formations meet a sky churned by fast-moving cloud bands. A solid, transparent sun dog hovers in the air, appearing entirely like glass yet retaining a faint, impossible amber tint that matches the sunset. The object holds its shape against the wind whipping the coastal grass without bending or warping. Layers of depth recede from the rough, textured foreground rocks into the distant, softening horizon. The sky shifts rapidly from deep orange to bruised purple, framing the glass-like phenomenon in a moment of playful suspension. Sharp edges of the volcanic stone contrast with the smooth, invisible contours of the floating transparent object.
