Sun Dog Over Almaty Mountains at Sunset

A pale luminous disc floats beside the sun along a sharp horizontal arc, hovering just above the jagged silhouette of the Almaty mountain ridge. Late spring grasses in the foreground bow under the force of a strong wind, their green tips bending toward the valley floor. The sky transitions from a warm amber glow near the horizon to a deepening slate blue overhead, with scattered clouds moving rapidly across the frame. The distant peaks clarify the vast scale of the landscape, appearing as dark, textured masses against the brightening atmospheric haze. A thin layer of mist rests on the lower slopes, while the light catches the rough edges of the rocks. at the edge is the sharp, crystalline edge of the ice crystal halo cutting through the softening twilight air.
