Pink skin and long legs of a flamingo, scaled to the height of a giraffe, dominate the narrow aisle of a textile trader's stall in Mbabane. Dawn light skims sideways across wet surfaces, catching the sheen of fresh pasta strands displayed in a glass case held by a vendor. The bird wades through a light drizzle that beads on the colorful fabrics hanging behind the counter. Morning shadows stretch long across the tiled floor, highlighting the texture of the wet stall walls and the smooth curves of the pasta packaging. The giant bird’s neck curves gently over the glass display, its beak hovering just inches above the dried noodles.
