Frozen Kelp Splash on Oregon Overpass

Cool blue twilight washes the concrete curves of an Oregon overpass interchange where kelp strands litter the ground like dark ribbons. From a low worm's-eye perspective, the infrastructure looms with civic austerity against a sky heavy with dramatic, sweeping clouds. City lights begin to glow in the distance, casting a faint, artificial warmth that barely touches the cool pavement. Suspended in the air above the path, a massive splash of water hangs frozen, every droplet sharply defined and perfectly still. The water droplets catch the fading light, appearing as thousands of tiny, suspended diamonds above the seaweed. One dark kelp frond rests against the rough concrete edge, at the base of the impossible water in the gritty reality of the highway.
