Frosted Melon Leaves Hokkaido Morning Mist

by Ingrid Orozco

Tiny green melon leaves sprawl across dark soil, each leaf tip capped with a delicate layer of white frost. The ground stretches in straight, parallel rows that guide toward the horizon, disappearing into a thick, gray mist. Overhead, a uniform layer of high clouds diffuses the dawn light, creating a soft, even glow without harsh shadows. To the left, rough-textured straw bales stack in a neat column, their golden fibers damp and heavy. Fine droplets of rain rest on the leaf surfaces, catching the pale light. The frost glistens slightly where the moisture meets the cold air, highlighting the texture of the veins. The rows converge at a distant point where the mist obscures the field edge.
