Fossil Jacket on Mule at Peru Observatory
Orange low-angle light washes over a sturdy mule standing beside a white observatory dome in the Peruvian highlands. The animal carries a heavy plaster jacket strapped securely to its back, the rough, chalky texture of the fossil mold against the animal's coarse dark coat. Beads of condensation rest on the cold metal housings of nearby scientific equipment, glistening in the fading sunlight. The sky above holds the deepening blue of late afternoon, while the turn of seasons is visible in the dry, sparse grass clinging to the rocky ground. The mule stands still, its head lowered slightly, framed by the curved architecture of the dome against the vast, open canyon landscape. A shadow stretches long across the dusty earth, ending at the edge of the plaster case.
