Adjusting Tarp in Lima

The wet cobblestones of a narrow Lima alley reflect the cool, diffused gray of the early morning sky after a heavy rain. A street vendor adjusts a bright blue plastic tarp stretched over a cart, the heavy canvas dripping steady beads onto the slick pavement below. On the counter, a stack of white paper plates sits beside a chipped ceramic mug filled with dark coffee, steam rising in thin, translucent ribbons that vanish into the damp air. Behind the vendor, a faded mural of a colorful parrot peeks from under a layer of grime, its painted feathers against the dull concrete wall.
