A massive Estrela Mountain Dog stands centered on a weathered wooden porch, its thick ruff of cream and gray fur catching the clear dry light of a Cusco afternoon. The dog's heavy muzzle and folded ears frame a calm expression as it gazes toward a yard of clipped green grass. Behind the animal, rough stone walls show patches of lichen, while a low wooden fence separates the porch from the garden. The dog's paws rest on worn planks, and its heavy tail drapes low near the threshold. Sunlight spills across the floorboards, highlighting individual coarse hairs on the dog's shoulders and the dust motes dancing in the beam. A simple clay pot sits near the corner of the porch, its surface cracked and sun-bleached.
