Filing Cabinets in Ruined Palembang Courtyard

Midday sun floods a roofless nave in Palembang, illuminating rows of rusted filing cabinets standing amidst a damp courtyard. Brown water stains climb the weathered concrete walls, marking the retreat of the wet season. The sky above is a sharp, cloudless blue, casting hard, geometric shadows across the peeling paint of the metal drawers. Dust motes hang in the bright air, settling on the corroded handles and the cracked floor tiles. The structure stands open to the elements, its hollow interior echoing with a heavy stillness. A deep shadow falls across the bottom drawer of the nearest cabinet, at the base of the scene in the weight of time.
